Welcome! I’m Mary Lee… the knitter and designer behind Fifty Four Ten Studio. I have been knitting, sewing and crafting since I was about eight years old. I published my first knitting pattern in 2013 and my collection now includes more than 70 designs. Fifty Four Ten Studio is named for the house number of the home my grandparents purchased when my mother was a young girl.

Cast Off Your Worries and Cast on Your Knitting

Hello knitters,

Well, this has been quite a week.  It was the week that everything changed. There was a sense that change to our daily routine was coming but it’s so easy to think it won’t really happen…or it won’t be that severe.  Unfortunately, the rapidly spreading virus won’t stop just because we want it to.

I’m making lists of things to do while at home in the coming days and weeks:

enjoy dinner at the table with my family each night

make phone calls to older family members and friends

write cards or letters to send in the mail…especially to the younger members of our extended family…to remind them that we care about them and that things will get better

make a dent in the stack of books I have intended to read

get outside for a walk

and knit, of course.

The message below will be my daily reminder to keep calm and carry on. Download a FREE PDF file of the quote and print it in a choice of three sizes: 4” x 4”, 5” x 7” or full page 8.5” x 11”. I’m printing it to slip in the cover of my knitting notebook!

MARCH 2024 UPDATE:

The “cast off your worries & cast on your knitting” graphic design is featured in my new Zazzle shop! My Fifty Four Ten Studio Zazzle shop offers cute tote bags for knitters, as well as coffee mugs, stickers, notebooks and more.

I printed the full page size on white card stock and trimmed the edges of the paper to fit in an 8” x 10” white frame I had on hand. It’s now on display in a corner of my home studio. If you are looking for a similar picture frame…click here.

As is the case for so many, both of our college kids are now home until further notice.  Their classes will be online starting soon…after the universities give the professors and staff a few days to figure out a plan.  My husband and I love having them at home but it does feel quite strange for all of us.

I am working on new designs.  They might not get finished as quickly as I originally planned….or maybe they will. It’s a time of uncertainty.

May you find comfort and peace in your knitting.

Take care!
