THINGS TO DO IN CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE:
After shopping at The Yarn Patch and a walk through Rocking Horse Antique Gallery, we drove about 10 minutes south of downtown Crossville to Dirty Girls Nursey. It was the perfect fall day to visit this cool barn! Lots of mums and pumpkins were available for sale in front of the barn. The greenhouse offers a selection of indoor plants.
We were fortunate to have great weather during our stay and one day enjoyed a morning hike at Cumberland Mountain State Park. Next time we visit we’ll plan to stay for lunch at Homestead Harvest Restaurant which is located adjacent to the river in the state park.
WE STAYED AT ONE OF THE HISTORIC HOMESTEAD HOUSES:
For our weekend stay in Crossville, we were fortunate to be able to rent a charming historic home (listed on Airbnb) which was built in the early 1930’s as part of the Cumberland Homestead project. This home is located a couple miles from downtown Crossville and it was perfect for our stay! The home has three comfortable bedrooms and the interior is nicely updated.
If you are interested in the history of the Cumberland Homestead project be sure to visit Cumberland Homesteads Tower museum. This small museum highlights extensive documentation on why and how these homes were built.
