Six Favorite Knitting Patterns: My favorite designs for blanket and scarf knitting
Recently, I received a really sweet email message from a knitter who had a couple of knitting technique questions. She also asked: "What is your favorite of your patterns?" A wonderful question...but a question that's really hard to answer! It's impossible for me to narrow it down to just one! So…I sent her my quick list of six favorites.
Here are my current 'Top 6 Favorite Knitting Patterns' from my collection of more than 60 knitting patterns…
Of all of my pattern designs...these are my current "Top 6 Favorite Patterns":
Top Row:
All These Places Blanket (bulky yarn)
Dance on the Breeze Blanket (worsted yarn)
Middle Row:
Room with a View Scarf (worsted yarn)
On the Porch Blanket (worsted or heavy worsted yarn)
Bottom Row:
Westport Blanket (super bulky)
River of Dreams Bed Runner Blanket (super bulky)

The reason for each of these designs making my personal favorites list varies from project to project. In general, it's the yarn, stitch pattern design, vision for the overall design, pattern name and the photo all coming together in satisfying final result.
Here's some info about each pattern and links to more info and how to purchase.
ALL THESE PLACES BLANKET:
My All These Places blanket design was inspired by memories of my childhood and the places that were meaningful in my life….my childhood home, my grandparents’ homes, the stores where we shopped.
As I worked on this blanket I reflected on how those memories are woven together…just like the basket weave style stitch pattern in the blanket.
I’m so happy that so many knitters have enjoyed using this pattern! Click here to read more about the Alll These Places blanket pattern here on my website.
The pattern can also be purchased on on Ravelry and Etsy.
DANCE ON THE BREEZE BLANKET:
This blanket pattern definitely brought all the pieces of the puzzle together! An all over stitch pattern looks fabulous with a beautiful yarn - Spud & Chloe Sweater organic wool and cotton worsted in the ‘Splash’ colorway. This yarn color fit perfectly with the pattern name that was inspired by the song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" in the classic Mary Poppins movie. The pattern is also available on Ravelry and on Etsy.
ROOM WITH A VIEW SCARF:
I love how this reversible scarf design came together with a beautiful yarn (Malabrigo Rios worsted) and an easy to remember stitch pattern. Often, I take at least 100 photos of a finished design before I catch just the right light and angle. When I took this photo…I knew I finally had ‘the one’ that captured how much I love this design!

ON THE PORCH BLANKET:
The On the Porch blanket is one of my favorites because it is simple and easy…and a neutral color yarn accentuates that simplicity. And, I absolutely love that so many beginning knitters have enjoyed using this pattern!
The On the Porch blanket knitting pattern was named for childhood memories of summer evenings on my grandparent’s screened porch. The simple textured stripe design reminds me of the old, painted wood floor of their porch.
On the Porch blanket knitting pattern is very easy to knit with worsted or Aran #4 weight yarn. I used Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Worsted in the ‘Drift’ colorway. The pattern can also be used with slightly heavier or lighter weight yarn.
The pattern includes instructions for six blanket sizes....baby blanket up to XXL afghan.

WESTPORT BLANKET:
The Westport Blanket was one of my first blanket designs and it is still a favorite! This blanket design shows that an inexpensive yarn and a simple, beginner friendly stitch pattern can blend together to make an attractive, timeless design. RIVER OF DREAMS BED RUNNER BLANKET:
I'm thrilled with how this blanket bed runner came together! I finished this bed runner two years ago and it has been at the foot of the bed in our guest room ever since. The giant cable adds interest and texture to neutral decor. Click here to read more about the River of Dream bed runner blanket.
