This pillow is knit with super bulky yarn and big needles so it knits up very quickly.
The Anchor Pillow knitting pattern is perfect for any nautical themed décor. For a classic nautical look, use navy and white yarn. Or, this pillow would look great knit with any number of other color combinations.
For me, the anchor represents a safe harbor, security and being home. I based the anchor knitting chart for this pillow off of a photo of an old brass anchor.
SUPPLIES
US Size 13 needles (or size to obtain gauge)
230 yards of super bulky yarn for main background color
30 yards of super bulky yarn for anchor
16” x 16” pillow form
I used Loops & Threads “Cozy Wool” super bulky yarn in the colors ‘Sapphire’ (navy blue) and ‘Fleece’ (soft white). This is a nice, economically priced yarn. I used a basic, inexpensive pillow form.
GAUGE:
10 stitches and 13 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a color knitting chart for the anchor design, knit with two colors using the intarsia technique, bind off stitches, sew up simple seams and weave in ends.
This is a two-color knitting pattern using the intarsia technique. Experience with intarsia knitting highly recommended! Instructions for intarsia knitting are NOT included in the pattern.
Detailed, step-by-step finishing instructions with close-up photos included in the pattern.
This pattern is written in standard U.S. knitting terms.
