The Little House was my third knitting pattern design (in 2014) and it’s still one of my all time favorite projects.
Only about 40 - 45 yards of worsted weight yarn is needed to make a little three dimensional 2.5” tall house. The pattern includes detailed finishing instructions including how to stitch on felt appliqué windows, doors and hearts. Add a piece of yarn to the roof and make a one-of-a-kind holiday ornament.
The Little House is a great project for stash worsted weight yarn.
The tiny house is knit flat and then seamed at the corners to make a three dimensional shape.
SIZE: One size - about 2.5” tall
MATERIALS NEEDED:
US size 5 knitting needles
worsted weight yarn - 25 yards house color & 15 yards roof color
stitch markers
felt (wool or wool blend) in desired colors
DMC embroidery floss in desired colors
poly-fil for stuffing
tapestry needle
embroidery needle
tracing paper & other basic crafting supplies
GAUGE:
US 5 knitting needles in stockinette stitch: 5 stitches and 7 rows = 1 inch
SKILL LEVEL: Easy/Intermediate.
This pattern is tutorial style and includes LOTS of photos with step-by-step instructions.
I have assumed that you know how to cast-on stitches, knit & purl confidently, cast off stitches, knit two stitches together, sew up simple seams and have some basic hand sewing experience. Detailed instructions provided for all other steps which may be new to you.
This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms.
